Andonis’ experience includes, inter alia, shipping law, ship management, new business development, investment management and seeding and supervising the start-up of new ventures.

Andonis began his professional career at Quadrant Chambers in London and was called to the Bar in 2000, whilst also working for Crown Advisors, a private equity fund, based in New York. Subsequent to this, he joined Enesel S.A. as a Vice President and rose to the position of Chief Executive Officer, before being appointed President in May 2011. Enesel S.A. is a ship management company, which presently manages a fleet of 14 ultra large container ships (ULCS), 2 very large crude carrier vessels and 2 Aframax crude oil tankers. Enesel S.A.’s history can be directly traced back over 165 years to 1848. In his current role, and in collaboration with his brother Filippos, Andonis was responsible, inter alia, for the acquisition and chartering of circa USD 1.5 billion of ULCSs in conjunction with the arrangement of circa USD 1.1 billion of senior secured facilities from both bank lenders across Asia and Europe as well as Korean export credit agencies.

Andonis is a Founding Partner and member of the Investment Recommendations Committee of Ekistics. He also founded of Axia Investments, a privately held asset management firm. Furthermore, Andonis is a Founding Partner of Avra International Pte. Ltd., a fully integrated physical commodity trading firm which is currently one of the largest independent traders of thermal coal in Indonesia, as well as a substantial trader of chrome from Africa. Andonis is a member of the boards of each of the Hellenic War Risks Association, the Swedish Club and the Union of Greek Shipowners.

Andonis holds an honours degree in Law from the University of Oxford, is a qualified barrister and a member of Middle Temple. Prior to commencing work with Enesel S.A., Andonis successfully completed six months of voluntary national service with the Greek Navy, from which he was honorably discharged at the end of his service.
